While playing video games is often considered a pastime for a younger demographic, nearly half of all video game players are adults between the ages of 18 and 49. In fact, there are even slightly more gamers over 50 than there are children and teenagers: just 25% of gamers are under the age of 18, the lowest demographic. The overall average age of a video game player in the United States is 34, and most gamers have been in the game for about 12 years.
