Types of aerobic exercise?

[ad_1]

The term aerobic exercise was established in 1968 by two US Air Force medical specialists who experimented with various forms of exercise and published a book called “Aerobics.” Any physical activity that delivers more oxygen to the body can be labeled as aerobic exercise, including indoor and outdoor activities. While aerobics alone may not keep a person’s body in shape, it remains an integral part of a healthy lifestyle and should be combined with weight training, proper diet, and a healthy lifestyle.

Prior to 1968, the term aerobic exercise was not part of everyday vocabulary. It wasn’t until two US Air Force medical specialists began experimenting with various forms of exercise that the term was established. In fact, the general public was completely unaware of any type of aerobic exercise until the two specialists published a book called “Aerobics.”

Aerobics originally included three specific types of exercise including cycling, swimming, and running, although many other activities have since been included in this category. As detailed in the Aerobics book, the primary goal of any aerobic exercise is to deliver more oxygen to the body as a whole. Therefore, any type of physical activity that performs this task can be labeled as aerobic exercise.

Essentially, any form of exercise that gets your pulse racing is a form of aerobics. Aerobics can include skiing, jogging, running on a treadmill, using an elliptical trainer, and anything else that can make a person sweat profusely or raise their heart rate.

Contrary to popular belief, aerobics does not have to be performed within a typical fitness center environment. Instead, aerobics can include all kinds of indoor and outdoor activities. Even though the concept of aerobics was developed in the 1960s, the benefits of aerobics are still widely supported today. The only difference between the initial concept of aerobics and contemporary aerobics is the addition of weight training.

While it’s hard to criticize any theory that supports physical activity, modern physical fitness experts don’t believe that aerobics alone can keep a person’s body in shape. Instead, these professionals believe that aerobics should be combined with weight training, proper diet and a healthy lifestyle. As the years go by and many studies based on the effects of exercise are conducted, physical fitness experts add and adjust the steps needed to become physically fit.

However, aerobic exercise remains an integral part of a healthy lifestyle. Anyone who wants to engage in aerobic activity can do so simply by walking, running, or finding another activity that fills the lungs with oxygen. Aerobic activity is not limited to one type of exercise or another, although everyone should attempt to participate in some type of aerobic activity regularly to stay healthy.
