Academic inflation has led to over 5,000 janitors in the US having a doctorate or professional degree, and over 100,000 having college degrees. 17 million US college graduates have jobs below their academic ability, and a PhD was once rare. Master’s degrees are now available in unconventional subjects.

In the wake of a sharp wave of academic inflation, graduates working in jobs unsuitable for their skill level have rapidly increased. One in four amusement park workers have a bachelor’s degree or higher, and nearly 20,000 park attendants have at least a bachelor’s degree.
