What’s a memory bracelet?

[ad_1]

Memory bracelets can be of two types – one that holds a picture of a loved one and the other made of memory wire that can return to its original shape. The former can be simple or elaborate, while the latter requires no clasps and can be worn on the wrist, upper arm, or ankle.

The phrase memory bracelet can refer to two very different types of bracelets, one that features a memory of a loved one, and the other that can “remember” its own shape.

The first type of memory bracelet is similar to a locket. The bracelet, which can take any shape, be it a metal chain or a beaded strap, includes a small picture frame, into which you can insert a small photograph of your child, boyfriend, husband, or other object of affection. Basically, anyone whose photo you want literally on hand at all times is a suitable candidate to be enshrined in a memory bracelet. Memory bracelets can range from simple ‘gold’ chains with ‘gold’ plastic frames, to elaborate and expensive affairs with precious metals and semi-precious precious stones.

The other type of memory bracelet is one made with a ‘memory wire’. This type of wire for jewelry making is sold in spools and will always return to its original shape after it is twisted into other shapes. A typical bracelet made with memory wire may be embellished with semi-precious stones such as polished amethyst, quartz, and citrine, along the length of the wire.

The memory cable requires no tying or finding; There is no need to add clasps to a bracelet made of memory wire. Simply wrap the wire back on itself and tuck it into the hole drilled in the last bead. A memory bracelet can have as many spiral coils as you want to use. A small memory bracelet could wrap around your wrist twice, but if you have the beads for it and don’t mind the weight, you can make a memory bracelet that wraps three, four, or even more times around your wrist.

Memory wire bracelets can be slipped over your knuckles, or the wire can be separated so that the bracelet can be wrapped around your wrist. Memory bracelets can be worn on the wrist, upper arm, or ankle. Wider coils of memory wire, that is, wire that has been wound and trained to a larger circumference, are available for making memory necklaces.
