What’s a space-saving PC?

[ad_1]

A space-saving computer takes up less space than a traditional computer, with options including incorporating the CPU into the keyboard or monitor, using a notebook computer, or using space-saving furniture. Cost is a consideration.

A space-saving computer is one that takes up much less space than a traditional computer, even if that traditional computer is a tower box or desktop box. Some might consider a computer in a tower box to be a space-saving computer, but it actually takes up as much space as a horizontal desktop model, just in a different way. There are a couple of different configurations for space-saving computers that are used on a regular basis.

A space saving computer has a few different options when it comes to saving space. The first is to do something different with the central processing unit (CPU). Aside from the monitor, which some claim isn’t actually part of the computer, the CPU takes up most of the space.

CPU options usually focus on one of two solutions. The first is to incorporate it as part of the keyboard. There are a couple of manufacturers that take this approach to design a space-saving computer. The other often used option is to include the CPU with the monitor. Apple has often used this approach, with some of the newer Macintosh computers being designed this way.

Another option for a space-saving computer is to simply stop using a desktop computer. Many companies have moved to notebook computers, for a variety of different reasons, including space constraints. The notebook can be docked at a docking station that allows access to the network when used at work. The notebook computer, whether used at work or for mobile computing, usually saves a significant amount of space.
In addition to the CPU, other components of a computer can also be made to save space. Keyboards can be designed to take up very little space. Monitors, especially the new flat screens, can not only take up less space above the desk, they also take up less space at the base, which sits directly on the desk.
For those who find a space-saving computer impractical or not desirable, there are other options as well. For example, you can use space-saving furniture or multipurpose furniture. Often modular in design, these pieces of furniture can fit in with other pieces and end up saving a tremendous amount of space.
One of the biggest considerations when looking at space-saving computer designs is cost. Often, the technological advances required to assemble computers into smaller packages cost additional money. While cost-benefit analysis may reveal that there is a benefit to a space-saving computer, it may also reveal that there is no substantial benefit.
