Air filtration equipment, including air purifiers, air conditioners, humidifiers, and dehumidifiers, are used to clean and regulate indoor air quality. They can remove harmful particles, control temperature and humidity, and improve overall air quality. Built-in filtration systems can be installed in buildings to eliminate the need for opening windows.

The air filtration equipment is used for cleaning the air. It can also help regulate temperature and often contains a filter, or barrier, to catch harmful particles in the air, such as dust. Air filtration equipment is often installed to help clean the indoor environments of homes, restaurants and large industrial buildings, such as factories.
Air purifiers are generally used for the specific purpose of removing dirt from the air. Most of these products also have built-in ionizers, which are devices that release tiny particles called electrons into the air. These electrons attach themselves to particles of tobacco smoke, dust and other pollutants and form larger, heavier groups called ions. The larger size of the ions makes it easier for air or vacuum cleaners to catch and suck up those harmful particles.

Air conditioners are used extensively in homes and offices to help manage the temperature. These machines create a cycle by drawing in hot air, cooling it and releasing it again through a filter at the desired temperature. Freon gas is an important component in this process. This gas initially heats the air, allowing it to pass through a series of tubes until it cools and turns into a liquid. The same gas in a lower pressure capacity then forces the liquid to evaporate into cold air, which is released into the environment.

Humidifiers and dehumidifiers are also considered air filtration equipment. Their purpose is to control the humidity or amount of water vapor in the air. Cold weather usually brings low humidity levels, which can cause dry skin and a stuffy nose. On the other hand, during the warmer months, and especially in places near natural waterways, the air can be extremely hot and humid, which can contribute to the spread of disease. Humidifiers and dehumidifiers respectively increase or decrease the desired amount of water vapor in the air and can help people maintain an air humidity around 50%, which is usually the optimum condition.

Air filtration systems can also be installed in buildings. Sometimes called built-in filtration, such a device can eliminate the need to open windows and allow impure air inside. Larger filter sizes can also help better control temperature and humidity. These systems are often used in restaurants or large establishments that have many people coming and going. Recessed filtration is often attached to a permanent structure above the ceiling, such as a support beam.
