Brigham Young University, a Mormon school in Utah, prohibits male students from growing beards without special permission due to its strict honor code. However, exceptions are made for certain circumstances. BYU is known for its language courses, sober reputation, and on-campus dairy.

Brigham Young University (BYU), located in Provo, Utah, is part of the Church Educational System of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) and is named for Brigham Young, the President of the Church when he was founded the school in 1875. At Brigham Young, students are not allowed to grow beards without obtaining special permission from school officials. BYU maintains a strict honor code for its students that is intended to be in line with Church teachings.
