Converting MKV to DIVX is easy with various programs available online. Install CCCP before choosing a converter and selecting the MKV file to convert. Choose the output format, keep settings simple, select destination directory, and click “Convert.”
It’s a pretty simple process to convert MKV to DIVX. The conversion can be done by a number of programs readily available on the internet. Once you’ve chosen a program, the steps for converting are pretty straightforward. Before starting the converter program, however, it is recommended to install the Combined Community Codec Pack (CCCP), which can be found free on the Internet. This pack contains the DivX compression filters you need to convert MKV to DIVX and other filters you may use in the future.
Once CCCP is installed, the first step in converting MKV to DIVX is to choose the converter, install and open it. After launching the converter, you should see a toolbar or menu bar with several options. Somewhere among this myriad of choices is a button that says “Add File” or something similar. If you don’t see that button, check the menu bar to see if there’s a “File” tab. If there is, click it and there should be an “Open File” option in the dropdown list. The program will then ask you which file you want to open.
At this point, you should either select a specific MKV file to convert or use the Files of Type drop-down menu to select the .mkv file extension and browse MKV files. Once you’ve chosen the file you want to convert, click “Open,” “Next,” or whatever button indicates you’ve made your choice. If you don’t have CCCP installed, you may not be able to progress further.
The converter will then ask you to select an output format from the list of available file types. Different converters have different output file types available, but generally everyone should have a DIVX. If that’s not an option, you may need to find and download another converter program that specifically states that it will convert MKV to DIVX.
At this point in the conversion process, some converters have the option to change certain video and audio settings for the finished product before confirming the conversion. If this turns out to be the case, we recommend keeping it as simple as possible and using the default settings. Unless you know exactly what you’re doing, you’ll probably end up doing more harm than good by messing with the settings. Finally, choose the destination directory, click “Convert” and wait for the program to convert.
