Copper: top electrical conductor?

Copper is a cost-effective alternative to silver for electrical wiring, as it has similar conductivity. However, diamonds are the most effective conductors of heat and electricity. Sterling silver contains 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. Gold is produced by larger stars, while silver is produced by smaller starbursts.

Copper is technically not the best conductor of electricity or a physical object that allows heat or electricity to be transferred through it. Silver is in fact considered the most effective metal for the transfer of heat and electricity; however, it tends to be more expensive than other metals. Copper has a conductivity performance that is roughly similar to silver, but is typically much cheaper, making it the most commonly used material for electrical wiring. While silver is the best electrical conductor for metals, it’s not the best conductor in general: Diamonds conduct heat and electricity about five times more effectively than silver.

Ground diamonds are a common component in computer processors to keep the machines from overheating.
Products labeled as sterling silver generally contain only 92.5% silver, the remainder usually consisting of 7.5% copper because pure silver is too soft to use on its own for most products.
Gold and silver are created by starbursts: larger stars produce gold, while smaller starbursts produce silver.
