The Science & Entertainment Exchange, a non-profit program, is offering its services to Hollywood to add scientific realism to movies and TV shows. The program aims to represent science and scientists positively and generate interest in scientific fields. Filmmakers can call a hotline to connect with over 2,700 professional scientists worldwide. The program has helped with over 1,300 projects since 2008. The scientists aim to find a middle ground between fantasy and reality to make movies plausible. Marvel added their own touches to a fictional serum suggested by the scientists.

In an effort to generate more interest in science, a non-profit program administered by the National Academy of Sciences is willingly offering its services to Hollywood. Any writer, director or producer interested in adding scientific realism to movies and television shows can contact the Science & Entertainment Exchange and call a science or engineering consultant. Exchange members are not trying to force Hollywood to make their movies and TV series completely accurate, but rather to represent science and scientists in a positive way and generate interest in various scientific fields. Since the program’s inception in 2008, the team has helped the entertainment industry with more than 1,300 projects.

And co-star: real scientists:

By calling the hotline at 1-844-NEED-SCI, filmmakers can connect with more than 2,700 professional scientists from around the world.
Jessica Cail, a psychopharmacologist on the team, said her goal is to find a “middle ground between fantasy and reality,” in order to help filmmakers make movies plausible, at the very least.
When asked about the ingredients for a fictional serum for an episode of Agents of SHIELD, the scientists suggested an anabolic androgenic steroid mixed with a liver enzyme inhibitor. Marvel liked it, but added the gorilla’s testosterone and a drop of peppermint to spice things up.
