There are around 40 million Chinese living outside of Greater China, with over half in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, or Malaysia. The US has the largest population of overseas Chinese in the Western Hemisphere.

There are thought to be around 40 million Chinese living outside the Greater China region, meaning that if all Chinese living outside Mainland China were a single nation, its population would be more than the population of the Canada – and greater than that of Greece, Belgium, Sweden and Hungary combined. More than half of Chinese living outside China are in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia or Malaysia.
