To become a Unit Supply Specialist, you will need to enlist in the United States Army under Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 92Y. Responsible for the efficient but effective distribution of supplies to soldiers in the garrison and in the field, the unit supply specialist will need relevant training provided by the Army. This means attending and successfully completing basic training. After that, the new soldier will need to attend full MOS training to become a unit supply specialist. Training ensures that the soldier understands how the Army’s logistics and supply systems work, as well as what is required for the role when placed in a unit supply depot.
Enlisting in the Army is the necessary first step to becoming a unit supply specialist. Application requirements will include a high school diploma or equivalent if the applicant attended school outside the United States, a clean criminal history, and US residency status. Candidates will need to visit an Army recruitment center, take and successfully pass the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test, and apply for the MOS 92Y upon enlistment. If there are slots available in the MOS 92Y and applicants achieve high enough scores on the ASVAB for that MOS, they will be placed in one of these slots, after passing the required training.
