The investigation itself will be relatively short, lasting no more than a week or two; the appeals process itself can take months, but does not involve a lot of consultant time. Property tax consultants learn their trade from a variety of sources. Some states also hold that self-employed property tax consultants practice law without a license; in these states, property tax consultants generally operate under the supervision of an attorney.
