Mangoes are a popular tropical fruit with over 100 types. A mango splitter is the easiest way to cut a mango, but a knife can also be used by cutting along the flat side of the seed and then cutting the fruit into cubes.

Mango is a tropical fruit that was originally found in Southeast Asia and is very popular all over the world. There are over 100 different types of mangoes and they usually consist of yellow, orange and red skin, fleshy fruit and a long, flat seed. The shape and texture of the seed can make it a challenge to cut a mango, but there are several ways to extract the seed from the fruit.

One of the easiest ways to cut a mango is to use a mango splitter, also known as a mango slicer. This device was specially created to cut the long flat seed of the mango. This is done like an apple slicer by placing the utensil on the fruit and pushing it down with both hands. In the process, the seed is separated from the mango fruit as it splits it in half. The advantage of the mango slicer is that it is designed to cut as close to the seed as possible.

However, if you don’t have one of these handy devices, you can create quite a mess when trying to cut a mango if you’re not careful. When you cut a mango simply with a knife, it can be a challenge because the seed isn’t easily visible like a peach pit, and you can’t see where the seed ends and the fruit begins. To make matters more complicated, mangoes can be quite slippery when attempting to work with them, requiring caution when handling a sharp knife.

When cutting a mango with a knife, you should start by lifting the mango and determining the orientation of the flat seed. You should now be able to cut the mango along the flat side of the seed, and then do the same thing on the other side so that you’re left with three pieces, one center with the seed and two halves. Once this is done, take one of the mango halves and cut it in a ‘checkerboard’ pattern, then repeat with the other side, being careful not to cut into the mango skin.

At this point you can simply peel the mango pieces out of the skin or use the knife to cut the skin off the mango cubes. You can also cut more fruit from the seed on the middle portion of the mango, throw away the seed and enjoy the uniquely sweet fruit. You can also find many uses for mango chunks in many recipes for different fruit foods and drinks.
