The first presents “Orinoco-Secrets of the River”, which is a Venezuelan rainforest environment. The latter has nearly 6,000 aquatic animals, ranging from electric eels to piranhas.
Outdoor activities you can do with the kids in Dallas include the Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden has one of the largest collections of azaleas in the United States, as well as some historic homes. The Dallas Zoo, in addition to being the oldest zoo in the state of Texas, was recently renovated and one of its exhibits, “Wilds of Africa” was named the best African-themed zoo in the country. There is also a children’s zoo.
If you want to make your time with kids in Dallas educational, you can learn about Texas history. Check out the Sixth Floor Museum where you can learn about the life and assassination of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, located in Dealey Plaza where the assassination took place.
If you live in Texas, Arlington and Dallas are separate places, but for an out-of-state family the 20-minute drive may seem like just a stone’s throw away and worth the travel for the sake of the kids. Arlington is home to both Six Flags over Texas, offering Texas-themed attractions and rides, including the Texas Giant, which is among the largest wooden roller coasters in the world. For sports and ecology lovers, Arlington offers River Legacy Park, with its inline skating, hiking and mountain biking trails, it also has a playground and Science Center.
