The oldest child ever born weighed 23 pounds at birth in 1879, but only lived for 11 hours. His parents were known as “the tallest couple in the world”.
The oldest child ever born was a boy who weighed 23 pounds (10 kg) in Seville, Ohio at his birth on January 19, 1879; however, he only lived 11 hours. His parents, Anna and Martin Hain, were known as “the tallest couple in the world” as part of a traveling show by showman PT Barnum. Anna was thought to be 7 feet 5.5 inches (2.2 m) and Martin 7 feet 11 inches (2.4 m), but their heights may not be accurate as some historians say the advertisements may have exaggerated the figures. Seven years before their son was born, the couple had a daughter who also died shortly after birth and was much larger than average at about 18 pounds (8.16 kg).
