Migrate a VM – How?

[ad_1]

A virtual machine (VM) can be migrated to another host computer using virtual software migration, OS migrator, or drag and drop. Choose the target host computer and folder to store the VM files, and test it before deleting the old VM.

A virtual machine (VM) is an artificial construct created through a virtual software program. It is typically used to run an alternate operating system environment without the need to create a dual-boot system. To migrate a virtual machine to another host computer, use the Virtual Software Migration feature, use the OS Migrator, or simply drag and drop the virtual machine to your desired destination.

To migrate a virtual machine using virtual software, open the virtual machine view and visit the host computer where the VM is currently stored. Select the VM you want to migrate and click on the correct option to start the migration. This will initialize the appropriate program.

After launching the program, you will need to choose the target host computer where you want to migrate the VM. Some virtual software will identify which possible computers are suitable to host the machine in question. When in doubt, choose a host that has been found to be the most compatible. You can then choose other options, such as the folder where you want to store the VM files, and click the appropriate button when you’re ready to have the software migrated from a virtual machine to your chosen location.

It may also be possible to use a drag and drop function. If your virtual software allows it, you will be able to click on the VM you want to migrate, then drag and drop it to the target host computer destination from the list of available computers. The transfer will begin after you “drop” the VM into the new location.

Other virtual software that will allow you to migrate a virtual machine may require different steps. These will usually be stated in the software instructions. In some cases, the virtual machine might be copied to a new location. You can then test the VM to make sure everything is working fine before deleting the old VM.
