Navy SEALs use a variety of weapons including the Colt M4A1 Carbine assault rifle, sniper rifles, shotguns, machine guns, pistols, grenade launchers, mortars, and rockets. The M4A1 is their weapon of choice and can be equipped with various features. They also use reserve pistols and the Benelli M4 Super 90 rifle. Sniper rifles include the M14, M82A1, and MK11 Mod 0. They also have access to anti-tank rockets, mortars, and grenade launchers. The SEALs’ weapon selection provides them with access to weapons for any type of combat mission.

Navy SEALs – short for sea, air and land – use a wide variety of weapons in their field of operations. The standard weapon of the SEALS is the Colt M4A1 Carbine assault rifle. Other Navy SEALS weapons include an array of sniper rifles, shotguns, machine guns, pistols, grenade launchers, mortars, and rockets. Navy SEALs are commonly required to perform high-profile missions over any type of terrain, which requires them to be trained to proficiently handle a wide variety of weapons. Although they usually go on a mission with an assault rifle and a backup pistol, Navy SEAL weapons are mission-dependent and may alternate frequently.

The Colt M4A1 Carbine assault rifle is the SEALs’ weapon of choice. The M4A1 is a more compact variation of the M16A2 rifle. The Navy developed the rifle in conjunction with the US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). Together, the two militaries designed the M4A1 Special Operations Accessory Kit (SOPMOD). The kit, used with the M4A1 Carbine Assault Rifle, provides Navy SEALs with a highly versatile weapon.

The M4A1 Carbine assault rifle is capable of firing as a semi-automatic or fully automatic weapon. It shoots accurately during the day and night and can fire 700 to 950 rounds per minute. It can also be converted into a shotgun and even a grenade launcher. The accessory kit allows SEALS to equip the M4A1 with a holographic sight, infrared vision, targeting laser, and other features. The Navy is also constantly working to add new features and capabilities to the M4A1.

Another heavily used item in the Navy SEALS weapon catalog is the reserve pistol. GASKETS often use M11 Sig Sauer P-228. Only 1.5 inches (3.8 centimeters) wide and 7.1 inches (18 centimeters) long, this pistol is easy to conceal and carry in virtually any situation. Its compact size and accuracy have made it one of the standard Navy SEAL handguns since 1989. When they need something with a little more firepower, SEALs often use the MK23 Mod O .45 cal SOCOM Offensive Pistol. The MK23 service pistol is capable of operating in the harshest environments, having demonstrated the ability to fire accurately when exposed to sand, water and extreme temperatures.

When the standard Navy SEALS weaponry doesn’t meet the requirements of a mission, the SEALS also have an arsenal of machine guns, submachine guns, and shotguns at their disposal. Although they use a variety of rifles, the rifle of choice is typically the Benelli M4 Super 90. The M4 Super 90 can fire in any weather and is extremely reliable. As such, other branches of the military have also adopted this weapon.

Sniper rifles are also a major part of Navy SEALS weaponry. Multiple sniper rifles are used for various situations, such as the M14, M82A1 and MK11 Mod 0 sniper weapon system. Each different sniper rifle has different firepower capabilities and different ranges, suitable for many scenarios and different targets.
For some missions, Navy SEALs also use anti-tank rockets, as well as mortars and grenade launchers. In all, the Navy SEALs’ weapon roster encompasses a formidable range of firepower. The broad selection provides SEALs with access to weapons for any type of combat mission, whether at sea, in the air or on land.
