To become a registered or practical nurse in the US, one must pass the NCLEX exam. The registration process involves submitting an application to the state board of nursing and Pearson VUE, paying a fee, and waiting for authorization to take the exam. After passing the exam, the candidate will receive their score in about a month.

The NCLEX registration process begins when an aspiring nurse submits a licensure application to the state board of nursing for approval. She must then submit her application to Pearson VUE, the provider of the test, along with the application fee. After the state board of nursing clears the application, the candidate and Pearson VUE will receive an Authorization to Test (ATT) form, which will provide them with a date range during which they can actually take the exam. After receiving the ATT form, the candidate should contact Pearson VUE to schedule their exam.

The NCLEX is the national test given to aspiring registered and practical/professional nurses in the United States. To become licensed as a registered nurse (RN), a person must pass the NCLEX-RN exam, while practical or professional nurses (LPN or LVN) must pass the NCLEX-PN exam. Although the licensing of nurses in the United States is conducted by state boards of nursing, passing the exam is required as part of the state licensing process.

When a nurse completes the educational portion of her preparation to become a registered nurse, it is time to begin the NCLEX registration process. After completing and graduating from an approved nursing school program, the aspiring nurse can submit her nursing license application to the board of nursing in the state in which she wants to work. Once she has done this, she can submit her NCLEX record via phone, mail, or the Internet. She must also arrange payment for taking the exam at the time of her registration. Payment is accepted in the form of credit/debit card, certified check or money order.

After submitting their NCLEX and reg registration, the applicant will receive confirmation of their registration. However, he will not be able to schedule his exam until he receives authorization from the state board of nursing. The approval process varies between individual boards of nursing. Once the aspiring nurse is approved to take the exam, she will receive her authorization notice and can contact her provider to schedule her exam. She will be informed of the time and date of the exam, as well as information about the rules for taking the exam, including what can be brought into the exam room, as well as the protocol for canceling or rescheduling an exam. After completing the exam, the candidate can expect to know his score and whether he passed the exam in approximately one month.
