Non-BPO jobs are positions directly employed by a company, while BPO jobs are outsourced to third-party companies. Non-BPO jobs are often senior and skill-based, while BPO jobs are often non-critical positions. BPO programs are a significant source of employment in many regions, particularly in India.

Non-BPO jobs are positions within any company that are not part of any business process outsourcing (BPO) program or system. This means that non-BPO work is, by definition, a publication that serves the business directly and is not part of a third-party service delivery agreement. For example, a call center agent employed by an engineering firm to place calls in the field regarding its services, policies and products is a non-BPO employee. On the other hand, the call center agent who works for a company hired by the engineering firm to handle the business related calls is a BPO employee. Although often controversial, the provision of BPO services has become a significant source of employment in many global regions, particularly in Asian countries such as India.

Business process outsourcing (BPO) has become a popular corporate cost-cutting exercise as companies in all areas of the world face the grim realities of rising costs and increased competition. BPO is a contracted service concept that sees third-party companies providing services previously provided by the client’s permanent staff. In other words, the personnel performing the relevant work are not directly employed by the client, with all savings proportionate to the company in payroll charges and benefits. Non-BPO jobs, on the other hand, are positions held by individuals directly employed by the company who benefit from its services.

In a significant proportion of cases, non-BPO jobs are senior, skill-based positions that require more experience and better qualifications than the average BPO job. This typically includes supervisory and junior management positions, as well as technical, information technology (IT) and financial classifications. On the other hand, BPO employees often fill non-critical positions and include call center staff, security and catering staff. There has been a significant increase, however, in the number of knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) companies offering senior and qualified outsourced services. Managerial positions are also becoming popular outsourced human resources resources as companies race to stay competitive.

The concept of hiring a workforce is difficult for many appreciated and can sometimes cause conflict in any organization. This is particularly true when non-BPO jobs are redundant in favor of BPO programs. However, it is a reality of the modern business arena and will certainly grow into general practice as the global business environment evolves. In fact, BPO programs are a major source of employment in many regions of the world, with India being a global leader in outsourcing services.
