Any vehicle carrying the president of the United States usually has the word “one” affixed to it, including everything from the famous Air Force One to the lesser-known Coast Guard One and Cadillac One. Taking up the “one” theme, the planes carrying the Pope are called Shepherd One.

Many other countries also use the “one” terminology for the carriages of their heads of state, including Brazil with Força Aérea One, Air India One and Presidential Bord One in Kazakhstan.
However, not all heads of state travel on official planes. Senior officials from Singapore, Norway and the UK all use regular commercial flights.
One of the more extreme government aircraft was used by Mobutu Sese Seko, the former president of Zaire, now known as the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In the 1970s and 80s he chartered a Concorde supersonic jet for personal use and to take his family to Europe for shopping.
