Renewable Energy Turbines: What are they?

Renewable energy turbines use wind or water to generate electricity through rotating blades. Wind farms contain multiple turbines, while water turbines can float. The turbines contain motors, gears, and controllers that drive a generator to produce electricity. Wind turbines can be vertical or horizontal and come in various designs. Both wind and water turbines are clean and efficient alternatives to fossil fuels.

Renewable energy turbines are devices that circulate air or water to create electricity. The exterior of renewable energy turbines consists of blades that rotate in a circular motion as they interact with wind and water. Inside these turbines are mechanical shafts and motors that convert those movements into energy.
Wind farms contain more renewable energy turbines. They are usually placed in rows that constantly generate electricity as long as there is wind. Renewable energy turbines typically consist of three blades that are attached to the end of a cylinder-like object. In the case of wind turbines, the cylinder can be placed on top of a pole planted in the ground. Water turbines can be freestanding meaning they float on the surface of the water.

The inside of the cylinder contains several controllers, motors, a pitch and a brake. There is a gearbox located near one of the camshafts. A controller is usually located near the generator and is directly connected to a weather vane that extends to the end of the enclosed exterior. The rotor and pitch are actually a part of every blade.

Renewable energy water and wind turbines contain a generator that is driven by the movement of internal motors and gears. When stimulated, the generator is responsible for producing electricity. Turbines that create electricity with wind energy are classified as vertical or horizontal. These classifications refer to the design of the turbine shaft.

In addition to wind turbines that contain three propeller blades, there are versions that resemble large fans or airplane engines. A wind cube design contains two sets of propellers in separate partitions that are attached to a tower. This design was made to sit atop buildings, especially in space-constrained cities. The new projects are focused on developing turbines that can be launched into the air.

Wind turbines can be operated on land or placed offshore, in oceans or other bodies of water. Depending on the power generation capacity and size of the turbines, multiple rows may be installed. Some farms or rural grasslands are equipped with two or three turbines, while others contain an amount similar to the length of traditional power lines.

Both wind and water turbines are considered clean and efficient sources of renewable energy. They provide alternatives to electricity generated by burning fossil fuels. Examples of fossil fuels include coal and oil.
