Roasting turkey legs with stuffing or seasoning is a common way to enjoy the taste of turkey without the extensive preparation of a whole bird. The thighs are sold fresh and can be cleaned, seasoned, and roasted until the meat falls off the bones. Stuffing can also be added to the roasting pan for added flavor.

There are several ways to roast turkey legs and one of the most common ways is to prepare them with stuffing or seasoning. The thigh is a large piece of dark meat and is often made in lieu of roasting a whole bird. While you can typically roast turkey legs in a much shorter time than a whole turkey would take, you may be able to enjoy the flavor of the turkey much more often provided you use only the legs of the bird. To add flavor, you may want to include some additional spices when roasting turkey legs as opposed to roasting a whole turkey.

Roasted turkey legs are a good option to enjoy the taste of turkey in a meal without the extensive preparation required to cook a whole bird. The large chunk of meat found on the turkey leg will provide a nice serving of meat to serve on any occasion. The time it takes to roast turkey legs is comparable to what it takes to prepare a small roast, in most cases. Most thighs are sold fresh and not frozen, further reducing the amount of time it takes to cook the entire meal.

If you plan to roast turkey legs yourself, you will need to clean and season the legs before placing them in a roasting pan. Trim any excess fat you may find from the thighs and place them in the pan, skin side up. You can apply any kind of herbs and spices you like to the turkey before placing a foil lid on the pan and placing it in a hot oven. You’ll want to roast the thighs in the oven over medium-high heat until the meat begins to fall away from the bones. You can uncover the thighs for the last 10 to 15 minutes to encourage browning and crisping of the skin.

When roasting turkey legs with seasoning, you should prepare the turkey normally and place it in the roasting pan. You can make your stuffing from scratch as you would normally prepare to stuff a bird, however, you’ll want to place it around the thighs in the roasting pan and then cover it with foil. This preparation method can also be made with canned stuffing mix. Once the stuffing is packed around the thighs in the pan, the turkey legs should be roasted until almost done, then finished off by removing the foil lid and allowing the entire pan to brown.
