They must also be able to assess the needs of the customers they are helping. Technical support representatives often train an organization’s employees on how to use new systems or software. This position can sometimes overlap with the Technical Support Representative position, as the Support Representative may work over the phone. Generally, technical representative jobs exist within fields related to computer systems and software; however, these professionals can also work in electronics and other related fields.
