A tenancy trustee oversees property leases and transactions, ensuring financial transactions are processed correctly and leases are in order. A grant administrator reviews leases for accuracy and tracks transactions for rent, taxes, and expenses. Both roles require organizational, multitasking, and computer skills, problem-solving ability, and good communication. Employers may prefer candidates with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business or finance and experience in real estate.

A tenancy trustee is tasked with overseeing property leases and related transactions. A person in this position has the role of administering leases and ensuring that they are in order. Part of their job is to ensure that financial transactions related to the lease are processed correctly, which often means keeping track of rent payments, property-related charges and taxes on the leased property. He may also have the job of processing lease renewals. If there is anything wrong with processing payments, receiving payments, or with lease documentation, it is usually the lease administrator’s job to notify the appropriate staff member or take other steps to ensure payments are up to date.

When a business has leases as part of its portfolio, there may be a number of details and transactions it needs to track against them. A grant administrator performs this task for his employer. A person in this field will typically review leases to ensure they are accurate and track transactions for things like rent, estate taxes, and a host of expenses related to the property. In some cases he may be responsible for collecting rents, while in others he may simply keep track of payments that are collected by other team members. Sometimes a person in this field is also called upon to maintain a database of related records, create budgets, prepare regular reports and analyze data.

To do his job well, a lease administrator usually needs good organizational skills. To keep track of several different leases at the same time, he may also need the ability to multitask and remember details. People in this line of work often need computer skills and are expected to have experience working with word processing and spreadsheet programs. Also, a person in this field usually needs problem solving ability and good communication skills.

The requirements that a person may have to meet to become a lease administrator can vary from employer to employer. In many cases, however, employers prefer individuals who earned a bachelor’s degree from that job. Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in fields such as business or finance can increase a person’s chances of getting a job in that field. Those who hold master’s degrees in related courses, however, may be preferred as job applicants. Additionally, some employers prefer to hire candidates with experience in the real estate industry.
