The Yellowstone Art Museum was built in the former Yellowstone County Jail in 1964 and includes part of the jail as an exhibit. Zoo Montana is a wildlife park in Billings that is home to animals such as wolves, tigers and bears as well as reptiles, spiders and many other creatures. The larger animals are found in natural habitats that visitors can reach via forest trails and other walking areas. Zoo Montana also has a play area, petting zoo, and picnic area.
Pittograph Cave State Park has pictographs, or ancient cave paintings, that are more than 2,000 years old. More than 3,000 historical artifacts have been found in the caves here, and the caves show evidence of being occupied by people who lived more than 4,500 years ago. The hike to see the pictographs is said to take about an hour, and you may want to bring binoculars to help you see the cave paintings more clearly.
