Kearney Mansion in Kearney Park is designed in the French Renaissance style on the outside and has Victorian decorations on the inside. The large house, with its gabled roof and dormers, belonged to Martin Theodore Kearney, a farmer from Fresno. The surrounding Kearney Park is known for its beautiful trees and flowers. Operated by the Fresno County Historical Society since 1962, the Kearney Mansion is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Fresno African American Cultural and Historical Museum has exhibits from some of Fresno’s African American artists. Exhibits range from permanent to temporary and focus on African American culture and history. The Museum was started in 1995.
Strolling through the Shinzen Japanese Friendship Garden is one of the top things to do in Fresno for those who enjoy beautiful scenery. Shinzen is divided into four sections to represent the four seasons and has seven bridges, a koi pond, waterfalls and a tea house. The garden is located in Woodward Park and can host seasonal events such as a floating lantern ceremony in August and a spring bloom festival in March.
Yosemite National Park is known as a great place for fun outdoor activities to do in Fresno, like biking, horseback riding, camping, and hiking. Depending on the season, guided horse riding tours and bicycle hire may be available. Yosemite National Park is home to wildlife such as mountain lions, coyotes, black bears, and bobcats.
