Fleece is a popular material for activewear due to its warmth, lightness, and breathability. Fleece sportswear includes pants, jackets, sweatshirts, vests, hats, and gloves. It is highly breathable and comfortable, but not weather-resistant and should not be worn in heavy rain or snow.

Fleece is a soft material usually made from synthetic fibers. Due to its warmth, lightness and breathability, fleece can be an excellent fabric choice for activewear, particularly clothing intended to be worn while exercising outdoors in cool, dry climates. Popular types of fleece sportswear include pants, jackets, sweatshirts, vests, hats, and gloves.

One of the most basic pieces of fleece sportswear is the jogging pant. These types of pants are usually held up with an elasticated waistband. Their legs are generally baggy, allowing the wearer uninhibited range of motion while jogging, walking, or doing other physical activities. Some wool pants also feature elastic ankle bands, which prevent the pant legs from dragging on the ground and getting wet or fraying. They often feature side pockets, which offer the wearer a place to store small items like keys while exercising.

Many fleece sportswear vests and jackets are designed for layering, allowing the wearer to regulate their body temperature while exercising. Fleece sweatshirts, for example, often feature hoods that can be pulled up or down during a workout. Vests and jackets made of wool often have a full-length zipper that runs down the front of the garment. This zipper allows the wearer to adjust their garment with minimal interruption to their training, simply by unzipping the piece partially or completely to allow cool air to reach their upper body. If the garment has long sleeves, you can remove it entirely once it has warmed up, tying it around your waist until it hits its cool-down period.

Wool hats and gloves are also widely available. These pieces can be very useful for the outdoor sportsman during the colder months. They provide an excellent source of heat, but tend to be much less bulky than nylon gloves or wool hats. So they can usually be removed and stuffed into pockets if the wearer starts to get too warm.

In most cases, fleece sportswear is highly breathable and therefore allows perspiration on the skin to evaporate quite easily. It’s also generally easy to move into, giving the wearer comfort and flexibility during a workout. However, it should be noted that fleece sportswear is generally not weather resistant and therefore should not be worn in heavy rain or snow. Also, it tends to get quite warm and therefore very high temperatures should be avoided to reduce the risk of heat stroke.
