Once the bales have been created, they must be moved using a forklift or other heavy machinery equipped with a bale launcher; bales can also be carried by hand, although they can get quite heavy. The recycling industry is also a common environment for a baler. Materials such as rubber, plastic and metal can be packaged for transport, storage, preparation for the next stage in a recycling process. Likewise, disposal services will use balers for similar reasons.
The size of the baler will generally determine how large a bale can be produced. Many manufacturers will specify the amount of material that can be safely loaded into the baler to make a given size bale. Exceeding this limitation may result in damage to the machine. Smaller machines may not be able to produce bales as big as larger machines, but they may be able to work faster, allowing the user to create more bales within a certain amount of time. The baler can also be portable, allowing a user to carry the device from one location to another, thereby increasing the convenience and efficiency of the process.
