What’s a biz presentation?

[ad_1]

A business presentation is a formal introduction of business practices or products, typically done using audio/visual equipment. The two most common types are sales presentations and intra-organizational presentations. Vendors should dress professionally and come prepared with researched information about the organization’s needs.

A business presentation is a formal tutorial or introduction of business practices or products. A business presentation is typically done using audio/visual presentation equipment, such as projectors and statistical papers created with presentation software, or other rudimentary equipment such as flip charts and whiteboards.

The two most common types of business presentations are sales presentations and presentations within the organization. Sales presentations are conducted by vendors in front of a potential client or customer, with the express purpose of presenting their product or service. Intra-organizational presentations are conducted by one or more members of an organization to their colleagues and are often intended to introduce new policies or operations.

In order for a vendor to conduct a sales presentation, they will first need to make an appointment with the member of the organization who makes the purchasing decisions. For example, a company that sells software specifically designed for engineers might approach an engineering firm and schedule an appointment with the IT professional responsible for sourcing the technology. If the supplier already has a relationship with the company, securing an appointment to introduce your business will be easier than if you are trying to set up a “cold calling” presentation.

To make the best impression, vendors who travel off-site to conduct business presentations should dress professionally in a suit or other formal business attire and bring as many presentation materials as possible. The sales presentation should begin by identifying the organization’s needs or deficits that the supplier intends to fill. The vendor should come prepared with pre-researched information about the specifics of the organization’s needs; or, in lieu of such details, statistics on the industry the organization is a part of. The presentation should also feature an easy-to-follow demonstration of the vendor’s product or service, either through a real-world hands-on demonstration or a virtual representation of the product or service in use.

A business presentation within the organization is typically conducted by any department or personnel who lead the new operations that are introduced in the organization. For example, if your HR department is starting a healthier workplace program, they might host a company presentation to familiarize employees with the new exercise programs and food options available in the office. Or, if a branch of an organization wants to propose a new operating plan to headquarters, they can present their ideas during a business presentation with the organization’s executives.
