Commercial microwave ovens are designed for heavy use in restaurants and are built with higher quality materials. They are larger, more powerful, and often have pre-programmed quick buttons for easy use.

A commercial microwave oven is a microwave oven designed for use in a restaurant. Commercial microwaves are built with higher quality materials and designed to last longer than a typical residential microwave. They are also designed for much more frequent and heavy use than a home model. A commercial microwave oven will typically have much more power than a residential microwave oven.

Most restaurants use microwave ovens in their kitchens. These ovens function in much the same way as a typical residential model but have several significant differences. The primary difference between a restaurant microwave and typical residential models is the quality of construction. A commercial microwave oven is designed for much heavier use than a home model, as it can be subjected to hours of nearly continuous use on a daily basis. A commercial microwave oven is usually constructed with a restaurant-grade stainless steel cabinet for easy cleaning.

The dimensions of commercial microwave ovens also distinguish them from typical residential models. Most restaurant microwaves are significantly larger than home models and can hold and cook more food at once. Some restaurant microwaves have doors that also open upward, instead of opening to the side like most household models. Like residential models, some commercial microwave ovens are available with a rotary carousel feature to ensure more even heating of foods.

The main difference between a commercial microwave oven and most residential models is cooking power. Commercial microwaves are more powerful than a typical home microwave and are often able to cook food less than half the time. Most home microwaves have a maximum wattage of 1,000 to 1,200 watts, but a typical commercial microwave oven will be between 1,500 and 2,200 watts. Some of the more expensive and heavier models can be even more powerful, clocking in at a whopping 3,000 watts.

Pre-programmed quick buttons are another common feature of commercial microwaves not seen in most residential models. This helps streamline operations and makes using the ovens quicker and easier for restaurant cooks. These buttons allow the cook to simply place food in the microwave and press a button to activate the oven for the desired time.
