Woodworking chisels are hand-held tools used to remove material from wood. Bevel chisels have heavily bevelled sides for tight spaces, while blunt chisels are used for mortise and dovetail joints. Chisels come in a range of sizes and cutting profiles, and can be used for hobby, furniture, cabinetry, and construction industries. The Beveled Edge Bevel Chisel is designed for fine finishing and detailing.

A blunt chisel is a hand-held woodworking tool used to cut material away from wood. This cutting action is achieved by hand driving the chisel across the wood surface or by tapping on the chisel handle with a suitable hammer. A bevel chisel typically consists of a long hardened steel blade with heavily bevelled sides that allow the chisel to be used in tight spaces such as dovetail undercuts and mortise cutouts. The blade has a tang tapering to its blunt end which is set in a wooden or plastic handle. Tapered chisels are available in a range of blade sizes and cutting edge profiles to meet a selection of cutting requirements.

Woodworking chisels are bladed cutting tools used to remove material from wood in the hobby, furniture and cabinetry, general woodworking and construction industries. Most chisels have a handle made of wood or high-impact plastic into which a tapered tang is inserted on the blunt end of the blade. The blade itself is typically long and rectangular with a blunt cutting edge on the narrow side opposite the tang. In the case of the bevel chisel, the long sides of the blade also have strong bevel profiles, making the blade resemble a gold ingot. Tapered chisels are used to cut by driving the chisel against the wood by hand or by striking the handle with a suitable mallet or mallet.

Blunt chisels are typically used to cut out mortise or square corner holes for locks, hinges, or tenon joint pegs. Chisels are also suitable for cutting out dovetail profiles; when you cut them, the full value and purpose of the conical chisel blade shape becomes apparent. Dovetail joints are made up of a series of trapezoid-shaped “fingers” cut along the edges of two pieces of wood. When mated with the protrusions on one engaging the notches on the other, they create an exceptionally strong and attractive corner joint. Chamfer chisels are perfectly shaped to cut the wood in the undercut part of the profile.

They are also suitable for cutting clean flat mortises in any confined space with the bevel giving good clearance to the edge of the blade. The bevel chisel is available in a wide range of sizes and grades ranging from 1/8 inch to 2 inches wide and in hobby, craft or professional quality. It is also often available in sets with different blade widths and cutting profiles. The latter include standard flat faces and oblique profiles. The Beveled Edge Bevel Chisel features a ground cutting edge on the face of the chisel at an angle that allows for fine finishing, detailing and cleaning of hard-to-reach joints.
