A corporate concierge assists business clients with purchasing services for work and personal enjoyment, from arranging transportation and reservations to organizing events. Strong organizational and communication skills are required, and a bachelor’s degree and work experience in customer service or public relations are preferred. Unusual requests, such as chartered jets or hot air balloon trips, may also be fulfilled.

A corporate concierge caters to the needs of business clientele in much the same way that a hotel concierge caters to hotel guests. He typically assists employees, managers and executives in purchasing services for business activities and personal enjoyment so that they can focus on their work without the distractions of everyday life. Several large companies have a corporate concierge on staff, although most people in this position own companies or work as independent contractors.

Some of the services requested by your customers are pretty standard. This includes finding good tickets to theater productions, concerts and sporting events, arranging limousine and sightseeing services, and making reservations at local restaurants. Other common needs fulfilled by a corporate concierge include picking up dry cleaning, sending flowers to family and associates, and purchasing small gifts. The organization of business services, such as photocopying or computer rental, is often requested by customers.

In some cases, unusual services are requested from a corporate concierge. This often includes chartered jets, planes or helicopters, organizing hot air balloon trips or renting a yacht. If funds are available and authorized, a confident corporate concierge will often take pride in being able to meet almost any client need that is legal and feasible.

If he is under a long-term contract with a company, normally the concierge is expected to organize all company parties and corporate festivities. After meeting with key personnel to determine their wants and needs, the concierge typically hires the caterer, chooses a menu, arranges entertainment, and rents a venue. If gifts are needed for an event, he is usually the person who buys and delivers them, neatly wrapped and labeled.

Success in this position typically requires excellent organizational skills. He typically serves multiple companies at once, so his time management proficiency is vital to keeping everyone happy. Because so many different customer requests are similar like limousine service, your attention to detail is critical to your success. Sending the right sized limousine to take passengers to the right airport or restaurant is often of the utmost importance to your customers.

Interpersonal communication skills are also an important asset for a corporate concierge. He often needs to interact with tired and cranky people and try to turn the day into a good day. Patience, empathy, and a good sense of humor are generally desirable attributes for a person with this job.

While there are no strict educational requirements for this position, most concierge companies prefer their employees to have a bachelor’s degree. Good knowledge of the area served by the company is usually preferred by candidates, as well as strong contacts in the hospitality and service industries. Work experience in public relations or customer service is often required for an aspiring corporate concierge.
