Curtain panels are non-combustible and made from flame retardant materials to prevent fire from spreading. They are secured with steel fasteners and can be made from antibacterial and antifungal materials. Repairs may involve replacing the frame or panel.

A curtain panel is a non-combustible curtain made from a flame retardant material that is not likely to catch fire. If there is a particular area in the building that has a higher potential for fire risk then that is where the curtain panel will be placed. It is draped tightly against the ceiling, parallel to the edge within the danger area. The main purpose of this material is to prevent the fire from spreading uncontrollably throughout the building by forcing heat and smoke into nearby vents.

The curtain panel is secured in place around the perimeter of the ceiling by hardened spring steel fasteners. Steel devices are inserted into the structure that are almost impossible to remove from the board. Continuous, electrically powered metal tubes are used for the construction of the frame. The frame is attached to the structure using T-bolts, which also align the curtain panel and hold it in place. The tube that continues along the top of the material is attached to a fastener, which will support the structure and hold it in place against the ceiling.

Curtain panels can be formed from an antibacterial, antifungal and mildew resistant material that is simple to clean and will not deteriorate, shrink or stretch. The fabric is non-flammable which makes curtain panels so effective. If they weren’t built to be so resistant to flames, they wouldn’t run long enough to force the necessary amount of heat and smoke into nearby vents. When the board comes into contact with smoke or fumes, it blocks them. They can also be made from other materials, such as aluminum.

Just like most fixtures within a building, steps will need to be taken to repair curtain panels from time to time so they can function properly. To repair a fabric curtain panel, you’ll need to unscrew one end of the tube, then pull the tube out and replace it. To fix a metal or aluminum curtain panel, you may need to remove the damaged trim corners, along with the fasteners, then replace the panel and trim corners.
