What’s a Framer’s job?

[ad_1]

Framers install structural members of buildings, working with various materials. No special education is required, but training programs are available. Framers need to work quickly and safely, ensuring stability and plumbness. Many learn on the job and can become supervisors. Work may be irregular, and some framers take on other projects during the winter.

A framer installs the structural members of a building and prepares them for the next phase of construction, where siding and other materials fit together. Framers may work with wood, steel, concrete and other framing materials in the course of their work. No special education or certification is required, although training programs are available and the pay rate generally depends on experience and skill level.

The author of the work is one of the first people to arrive at the workplace. Conspirators meet with other construction team members to discuss project needs and work with foundation staff to set up the framework. When the foundation is in place, framer teams can move in. They begin thinning in the frame, at which point the structure will need supporting props. In the blocking phase, they secure the frame so it can stand on its own.

A framer needs to be able to work quickly and safely. Framing may only take a few days if the structure is small. Conspirators must make allowances for doors, windows, electrical equipment, and other project needs. When they’re done, other teams can move in to start the next stage of construction and have a solid structure to do their job right. Conspirators must ensure that the structure is plumb and stable, in order to be able to support the weight of the structure.

Many conspirators learn their work on the job. They start as apprentices on the construction site and learn to use tools and work on site. Over time, they can take on more complicated tasks and eventually join framing teams. With experience, a framer can become a supervisor who monitors a team and may be eligible for higher salaries. Other conspirators go to school to learn construction techniques and basic engineering.

This work may be irregular in nature. Many conspirators are freelancers and rely on work from various sources for their income. During the winter months, it may not be possible to work, and the author needs to be able to budget the weekdays’ income to cover the winter. Some framers take on other projects during the winter, such as small home improvement tasks, to supplement their income.
