A meditation stool is a seat designed for comfortable meditation. It can be made of plastic, wood, or other materials and features either a bench or “T” shape design with a single or double support. It allows for extended periods of comfortable sitting during meditation.

A meditation stool is a seat designed for use by someone during meditation, usually featuring one of a few basic designs. The purpose of this stool or seat is to enable a person to sit comfortably for extended periods of time in meditation, allowing him or her to focus on the meditation and not feel uncomfortable. One of the most common designs for a meditation stool looks like a small bench, with a single seat and support legs at either end. Other stools are designed with a single support placed in the center of the seat.

Sometimes called a meditation bench, a meditation stool can be made using plastic, wood, or any other substance strong enough to support a seated person. While different designs can be used, the primary purpose of such a seat is to allow someone to sit comfortably in meditation. Most of these stools are designed for sitting on the floor, allowing the individual to sit with knees bent and feet placed under the seat. A meditation stool is usually designed at a slight angle, allowing the sitter to sit comfortably upright for extended periods of time.

One of the most common designs for a meditation stool resembles a bench, which is why they are often referred to as benches and footstools. This design has a single seat, which can be flat or curved to allow for comfortable sitting. A support is then placed at either end of the seat, much like a bench, allowing the person sitting on it to place their feet between the supports while sitting. This type of meditation stool is usually quite sturdy and often made of wood; some seats also have hinges that allow the holders to fold flat for greater portability.

The other common design for a meditation stool features a similar seat, but uses a single support in the center instead of one at each end. This type of stool resembles a “T” shape, with the subject’s weight supported by the center piece, which is usually a thick piece of wood, metal, or strong plastic. When someone sits on this type of meditation stool, they have more control over where their feet are placed under the seat. The bench style of the stool confines the subject’s feet between the two ends, while the single-supported stool allows the subject to place their feet anywhere on either side of the support.
