What’s a Pallet Conveyor?

[ad_1]

A pallet conveyor is used to transport goods on a pallet through a factory or warehouse. It can use rollers or a belt system, and may be powered or non-powered. Some systems are portable and can be folded for transportation.

A pallet conveyor is an industrial piece of equipment designed to facilitate the transport of goods loaded on a metal support known as a pallet through a factory or warehouse space. The pallet itself is usually made of wood, although other materials may be used; the pallet will support the weight of various goods stacked and secured on it and prevent these goods from being damaged or blocked along the pallet transport system. The conveyor itself is likely to have a series of cylinders known as rollers or a belt system.

Rollers are most often used in non-powered systems, although there are some powered systems that use rollers to help move pallets along the rail. A non-powered pallet conveyor will feature a series of rollers arranged in succession within the conveyor frame; the pallet must then be manually moved along the track, and the rollers will help keep the pallet moving by reducing the friction between the rollers and the pallet. Powered pallet conveyor systems will feature one or more drive chains that travel across the frame, rotating the rollers and moving the pallet along the rail without the need for a human assistant to push it.

Other pallet conveyor systems may use a belt drive instead. The tape will be mounted around a series of rollers, some of which will simply act as support units and some of which will actually drive the tape. The pallet will sit on the belt and be pulled along the track as the belt moves. Belt systems are exceptionally useful, but they can wear out pretty quickly. The strap must be properly tensioned to prevent it from slipping off the track or tearing or otherwise becoming damaged.

Sometimes the pallet conveyor is a portable system that can be folded and transported to various places. Such systems will typically feature hinged metal frames that can fold in on themselves in an accordion-like fashion or modular rails that can be assembled and disassembled quickly and easily. The key to such systems is portability: not only must the system be stable and usable once installed, but it must also be easy enough to disassemble and compact enough to store in a truck, trailer, or other transportation vehicle. The rollers must be strong enough to resist damage from regular use, as well as potential bumps that can occur during transportation.
