Posture pillows are used to maintain good posture while sitting or sleeping. They come in two types for desk chairs and car seats, and for side or back sleeping. They prevent back problems and promote good sleep.

A posture pillow is a support pillow used to help keep the back in a good postural position, with the shoulders back and the base of the back slightly arched. These pillows are usually made from polyurethane foam, polyester fiber filling, or inflated with air for travel. Posture pillows are mainly used when working at a desk, sitting in the car or while sleeping. Slouching can stress the bones in the back, compress the discs or cushion between the bones in the back, pinch the nerves in the back, create tension in the back, and occasionally cause tension headaches. Maintaining good posture with a posture cushion prevents these problems.

Desk chair and car seat posture cushions come in two types, and both typically have a strap to secure the posture cushion to your chair or car seat. This type of postural cushion is square in shape and bevelled, or thicker at the edges and thinner in the center, creating a groove in which the back can be supported. This type of pillow is usually about 13 inches by 16 inches (about 33 by 41 cm) and is between 3 and 5 inches (about 8 to 13 cm) at its thickest point. The second type of postural cushion is a small, thin cushion that is flat on the side that rests against the chair and rounded on the edge that rests against the backrest. This pillow is placed at the base of the back to provide extra support for the lower back as it curves gently inward.

Sleep Posture Pillows are made for either side or back sleeping and both styles help maintain proper posture throughout the night to relieve tension created in your back during the day, reinforce good posture, help prevent snoring and promote good sleep. The Side Sleeping Posture Pillow is U-shaped, with one side of the “U” longer than the other. During sleep, the curved part of the pillow is placed under the head to support the neck, the shorter arm of the pillow supports the face, and the longer arm of the pillow runs along the back to support the spine. These types of pillows measure approximately 16 x 23 inches (about 41 x 58 cm) and are usually 5 inches (13 cm) thick.

The sleeper posture pillow is square in shape with a groove cut out for the neck and a hollowed out bowl shape for the head. These pillows cradle your neck and head into a position that properly aligns your spine. Back sleep posture pillows are approximately 11 by 15 inches or (28 by 38 cm).
