There are also some smaller models that can be used in home kitchens. These models usually have only one or two spits and can have limitations in the size and weight of the birds they can house. A rotisserie oven designed for use in home kitchens may only be able to house smaller birds such as chickens and Cornish hens. Those that are large enough to house turkeys may only be able to cook turkeys up to a certain size. For example, a rotisserie oven made for home use might only be able to cook turkeys weighing less than 15 pounds (about 7 kilos).

There are a few rotisserie oven models that are designed to cook a range of food types, especially when it comes to models designed for home use. Some have internal accessories that can be turned off so the oven can cook rotisserie chicken or pizzas. Such models can also be used for countertop cooking and broiling.
