The vast majority of solution architects have extensive project management experience and have had some degree of lead development work. A development lead works at an intermediate level between developers and solution architects, maintaining communication between the two about the project at hand, training and mentoring coders and other technical teams, and helping to troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
