Warehouse pallets are used to stack, store, and transport goods, allowing forklifts and other equipment to move multiple items at once. They can be made of wood, metal, or plastic and can carry loads over 2000 lbs. Products stacked on pallets must be secured for safety reasons.

A warehouse pallet is a device, often made of wood, upon which goods can be stacked, stored and transported. It is commonly used when large quantities of items or large items need to be moved. Pallets are square or rectangular in shape. They are designed in such a way that goods can be held securely while in transit. This allows forklifts, pallet trucks or other equipment to move, lift or lower multiple objects at once.

Warehouses often have a lot of goods that need to be stacked and moved. Instead of moving each item individually, products can be stacked on a warehouse pallet. These items can then be moved by truck, ship or other means and be delivered to their destination. Using a warehouse pallet also allows for better space conservation. This is because sometimes palletized goods can be stacked on top of each other.

Some pallets can carry loads over 2000 lbs (about 908 kg). A business can use the dimensions and weight of their products to determine how many can fit on each warehouse pallet. So instead of having to count each box individually when receiving or shipping a delivery, the company and its customers can simply count the number of pallets. However, it is possible for a company to be scammed in this way. A worker who knows what he is doing can stack the short pallet so that it looks like a full pallet.

A warehouse pallet can be made from a variety of materials. Wood pallets, for example, are a common choice. However, wooden pallets must be in good condition when used. Failure to do so can cause cargo, sometimes thousands of pounds, to break off the pallet and fall onto warehouse workers, causing injuries. Pallets can also be made from other materials such as metal and plastic.

For both worker and item safety reasons, products stacked on pallets must be secured, especially if the pallet is being shipped. Many times, these items are held in place using stretch wrap, an elastic plastic that can be wrapped around the items, holding them together. However, to prevent items from sliding off the pallet, wrap should be placed around the items and the top of the pallet. Other options for securing items on pallets include strapping and shrink wrap. These options can also be used together for an even safer pallet.
