An apron conveyor is a type of conveyor made up of individual apron plates connected with hinges, used to transport materials in different industries. It works like tank tracks, with a mechanism inside the belt. It can be adjusted to any length and is easy to maintain. It is not recommended for use in the food industry due to contamination risks.

An apron conveyor is a type of conveyor that consists of individual apron plates that are connected to each other with hinges on the underside, thus creating a ring conveyor surface into which materials can be placed. It plays a vital role in different industries as it is used to move different materials from one place to another. This type of conveyor is used to transport a large number of materials at different stages of production and is especially useful for transporting huge and heavy materials.

Many industries view conveyor belts as a lifeline in their industry, including manufacturing, agricultural and chemical industries. In the manufacturing industry, these conveyors are used to move materials through different sections during the manufacturing process; in the agricultural industry, they are used to deliver grains. Apron belts can be made with walls that are ideal for moving materials without containers, such as feed and gravel. In the chemical industry, apron belts are used to move hazardous materials that prevent workers from handling them.

A conveyor belt works much like the tracks on a tank. The individual plates of the apron overlap and are connected to each other to form a belt or a closed chain. A mechanism is placed inside the conveyor belt, usually composed of several metal rollers.
Some rollers contain pins or teeth that engage into holes or grooves built under the apron plates. When the rollers rotate, the teeth that are hooked on the plates move, which then move the apron conveyor belt along the rollers. This action is similar to a sprocket moving a bicycle chain when the pedals are pressed. The operator can adjust the speed and direction of the conveyor through the mechanism. Since the apron conveyor belt forms a loop, it can run continuously as long as the roller mechanism rotates.

There are several benefits of using conveyor belts. This conveyor can be adjusted to any length by changing the number of plates. Maintenance and repair are also easier. When part of the conveyor fails, the damaged plates can be removed and replaced instead of the entire conveyor, saving the operator time and money.

Apron conveyors made of high quality steel are useful for handling abrasive materials, such as rocks and granules. The apron walls and plate overlap ensure minimal material loss, especially when hauling grain and debris. Primarily used for industrial purposes, these conveyors are made to withstand enormous weight, heat, and continuous operation. The carrier can be treated with special coatings to achieve a desired surface, such as friction or elasticity. Apron conveyors however are not recommended for use in the food industry as there is a risk of contamination from the surface of the conveyor.
