Article marketing is the use of informative texts to attract a target market to a website or blog, driving qualified traffic. This traffic is more likely to click on ads or order merchandise. Articles are placed in internet directories with keywords and links to the website or blog.
Article marketing is the use of informatively written texts designed to capture the interest of the target market. A target market is the type of customers that are researched and identified as the most likely to want or need a particular product or service. Primarily used in Internet advertising, article marketing is a popular method of driving qualified traffic to a website or blog.
Qualified traffic is basically the same thing as the identified target market. Rather than just happening on a company website by accident, consumers interested in certain products or subjects read informative articles about them. There are links within or at the end of these written articles to a web page or blog. A blog or personal web log can be independent of a website or part of it.
People who follow a link from articles to your website or blog do so because they’ve been intrigued by the information and are looking for more. In this way, they are the targeted or qualified audience that the article marketer wants to drive to their blog or website. Qualified audiences are more likely to click on web ads or order merchandise than random web page visitors.
The website or blog to which article marketing connects qualified audiences can be of three types. It could be an e-commerce site that sells a product that relates to the information contained in the marketing article. Or, it could be a blog that contains more of the same types of information that appeals to the target market, only this time advertising appears where the article marketer earns profits, as is the case with the pay per click (PPC) model. In a PPC business model, advertisers are paid only when a site visitor clicks on one of the ads displayed on the web page. The third type of business advertising model that Internet articles can be linked to is a business website; these have no advertisements, but connect the target market with the home page, thereby introducing qualified potential customers to the company’s products, services, background information, and contact information.
Article marketing is done easily by placing the informational pieces in internet directories. There are many free article directory websites on the internet. It involves typing the phrase “free article directory” into a search engine to find a large list. Article marketers typically pick several directories to start with, and then keep adding more articles and new directory sites. Keywords, such as “shoes” for a shoe company, that interested consumers might use in their search for products and information should be used in each article, along with links to your website or blog.
