Climate control is necessary in many industries to ensure that products are produced or stored at specific temperatures and other specifications. This includes wineries, computer part manufacturing, and other businesses. Climate control can be achieved through HVAC systems with sensors, but it is important to consider the comfort of workers in these environments. Protective clothing may be necessary for workers in extreme temperatures.

In various forms of industry it may be necessary to produce parts or entire machines at particular temperatures and other specifications. Similarly, certain products may need to be stored in what are called controlled environments. The effort to make sure that the production or storage of the things produced meet certain specifications is called climate control, and there are many industries where the climate must be kept within a defined range in order for the products to remain workable or to be of higher quality. .

For example, in many of the large wineries, there is concern about how to store wine during and after its fermentation process. This is often conducted at the direct level, where temperature and other aspects such as humidity are controlled from within wine storage or fermentation devices, such as steel tanks. Preventing these environments from getting too hot or too cold is believed to create better wine and prevent spoilage.

After the fermentation processes are completed or if they take place in the bottle, the company must think about the best way to control the quality of the wine through the external temperature. They may want the wine to be stored at least in semi-cold environments free of humidity. Wineries that store wine on-site might build vast storage rooms, where climate control is used to maintain the optimum temperature for aging or storage until shipment.

There are many other businesses that need some kind of climate control. A strong need in building many computer parts is the creation of cool, dust-free environments that help produce the best microchips, processors, or assemble entire computers. Normally such control is achieved by using HVAC (heating, ventilation and cooling) systems equipped with acute sensors. These sensors, when adapted to the size of the building or room, help to automatically regulate the temperature and/or humidity level in the room, maintaining the desired climate control deemed most appropriate by the company.

While building things in a climate controlled environment may be desirable from a manufacturing standpoint, there is usually more than one factor that needs to be considered. People often have to work in a climate controlled environment and deciding on the optimal climate needs to take into account how people will react to it. Any production or storage of something that needs excessive heat or cold could be difficult for the workers.

Companies can go in different directions on this issue. They could limit time in very uninhabitable air-conditioned environments or they could provide some form of protective clothing that can be worn while people work in these environments. For example, the diver who feeds fish in an aquarium wears special clothing to do so, which means he can breathe underwater and will not get cold if the water is set to an optimum temperature for a certain type of fish. People who work in assembly in cooler temperatures may need to wear warmer clothing and gloves to work, so they can continue to work efficiently in a climate that is not very comfortable for humans.
