Exerssage is a facial yoga and self-massage technique that relieves tension in the face, neck, and jaw, and helps reverse the effects of premature aging. It combines breathing practices, yoga poses, acupuncture pulses, and sound contours to soothe the skin and muscles of the face. Sabrina Stevens is the most recognized exerssage therapist.

Exerssage is a facial yoga treatment and self-massage technique. It is used to relieve tension in the jaw and muscles of the head, face, and neck. Also known as StarFace Exerssage, the therapy combines breathing practices with 24 cranial and facial yoga poses to soothe the skin and muscles of the face. Combined with acupuncture pulses and contours through sound, it alleviates the sources of facial aging.

As a theater practice, the exercise is practiced in three different exercises. The first consists of self-massage movements to firm cheeks, tone under the eyelids, relax jaw tension, and balance a crooked smile. The second exercise reshapes the eyelids, corrects the frown and raised forehead, and relaxes other tensions. The third exercise tones under the chin and neck, relaxes the forehead and defines the shape of the lips.

The facial tension that exerssage seeks to relieve can build up in any number of ways, from improper balance, crowded conditions on an airplane, to an awkward position watching TV or reading a book. These facial tensions are the main cause of a prematurely aged face, and the goal of exerssage is to help reverse these effects by massaging the face back into its balanced, natural shape. The massages are complemented by maintaining the yoga postures to further reinforce the position of the face.

Exerssage has been used as an alternative to facial surgery or botox, helping the muscles of the face to recover. Exerssage massages help the face to reduce tension and allow better blood and oxygen circulation. A healthier face with more blood and oxygen is better able to restore its proper appearance. The acupuncture pulsation helps flex the face into postures during breathing exercises, and contouring re-teaches the face the natural, healthy state of its muscles.

Jaw tension produces tension through the rest of the face and neck, because the jaw muscle is the largest and most dominant muscle in the face, connecting to almost every other muscle in the region. Reducing jaw tension through exersageje reduces stress on the other parts of the face and neck, and contributes to a healthier facial and cranial posture.

Sabrina Stevens is the most recognized exerssage therapist. She began practicing in Hawaii in the 1970s, and has produced some of the most popular exerssage treatments, including the luscious lip massage and lip softener exerssage. She is the creator of StarFace, a holistic health and beauty program, and has called exerssage a “natural facelift.”
