Lint pulp is a softwood-based chemical pulp used to create personal care products. It is produced worldwide and has a high annual production. However, some companies avoid using it due to its negative environmental impact. Lint pulp is used in products such as diapers, sanitary pads, and wipes. It can be used alone or combined with synthetic materials to create absorbent products.

Lint pulp is a chemical pulp that is usually made from bleached cellulose fiber obtained from wood that has long fibers. Also known as soft pulp, shredded pulp, and fluffing, this pulp is made from trees classified as softwood, meaning they belong to the conifer family, such as pines. Fluff pulp is produced all over the world in huge quantities. Some estimates place the annual production in the order of 3.5 million tons. It comes in a wide variety of grades and is used to create a wide range of personal care products.

Cut pine and other trees that produce softwood are chemically treated until they break down into soft pulp. Some companies avoid using soft pulp due to the huge toll this takes on the environment. Trees harvested for pulp can come from natural forests and, once cut down, can take more than a decade to regrow. Some prefer to use natural cotton instead of soft pulp to create hygiene-related products because growing cotton has less negative impact on the ecosystem.

This pulp is used as an absorbent core in products such as baby diapers, sanitary pads and incontinence pads. They are also used to make absorbent pads for food and airborne products, which are thicker and more absorbent fibrous meshes than paper. Airborne products made from lint pulp are used in a variety of applications, such as manufacturing wet and dry wipes, kitchen paper, baby wipes, and training pants. To make compressed air products, the fibers of the pulp must be freed from each other before being processed in a paper machine; this process is called defibration. The increased tensile and tear strength of air-laid products made with cellulose pulp make them excellent choices for multiple disposable absorbent applications in both the industrial and consumer markets.

This paste is distinguished by several characteristics, such as its absorption properties and uniform runnability, which is a combination of properties that allow the material to be processed smoothly. Quality, uniform disintegration and good core strength are also some of the other characteristics taken into consideration by pulp manufacturers. The pulp is rolled into rolls or reels for transportation and storage, and the reels are converted directly by the producers into air or sanitation products. Lint pulp can be used alone or combined with synthetic or superabsorbent polymers to create absorbent personal products that retain fluids and distribute liquids.
