When served, the ingredients of bandeja paisa are piled together like a lump of food on a large platter. Other main ingredients included in traditional bandaja paisa include rice, pork and beans.

Like neighboring countries in South America, Colombia has its own unique cuisine. The types of food eaten with hogao are wide, but those common in this country include egg dishes, soups, and meats. Soup is a very popular type of food that is eaten in Colombia for any meal, including breakfast, and this sauce is often poured into the soup prepared for the diner to season it to his or her taste.
