Holle is a company that produces organic baby food, using Demeter products and focusing on sustainability and social responsibility. They have been offsetting CO2 emissions since 2013 and use only natural ingredients without any chemical processing materials or preservatives.
Holle is a company that offers pure organic baby food. Holle was founded as Holle Food AG in Arlsheim in 1933. Soon after, Holle produced its first Holle wholemeal bread and Holle organic food, making the company one of the first manufacturers of organic baby food in Europe. The original range of baby foods included various cereal-based foods for baby bottles, as well as baby food to be mixed with fresh milk or fruit.
For more than 80 years, Holle began using Demeter products in the manufacture of its baby food. Holle, as a manufacturer of baby food, has consciously focused its attention on the well-being of babies and the environment. As a result, social responsibility and sustainable management have always been among Holle’s core values. Holle’s operating methods are based on his passion for ensuring that future generations can live in a healthy environment. Holle has constantly strived to make it even more sustainable, implementing a wide range of measures and projects.
Holle is also dedicated to global climate protection under the banner of Making Soil Good. Since the beginning of 2013, Holle has been offsetting the CO2e emissions generated during the production of its baby milk formula. Since November 2014, all Holle milk cereals and Holle baby food have also been CO2e-neutralized products. Holle’s goat’s milk formula has also been climate neutral since 2016. Additional products such as junior mueslis are also expected to be accredited. Holle obtains its emission certificates through Soil & More’s biodynamic compost projects in South Africa and Egypt.
Holle BaFormula is produced from 99% organically grown ingredients. The milk used in each formula comes from cows raised on biodynamic farms (Demeter) in caring and appropriate environments. All of their farms strictly adhere to the EU organic ordinances and in addition to the strict international Demeter ordinances. The reason for having superior quality of milk used for their premium baby food is the fact that their cows graze on lush biodynamic fields and pastures. Farmers avoid the painful dehorning of cows. Other notable ingredients include organic vegetable oils that provide essential fatty acids for the baby. The remaining 1% of the ingredient consists of vitamins and minerals that are essential for the growth of the baby and are required by EU regulations.
From the beginning, Holle has focused on naturalness, as they want their products to deserve to be called sustainable. Holle baby food is produced using only natural ingredients grown to biodynamic or organic standards. No chemical processing materials or preservatives, no added salt or granulated sugar, flavorings or colors are used. Holle is the only manufacturer with an almost complete range of baby food in Demeter quality in Europe and has become one of the leading manufacturers of organic baby food.
