Keats House is a museum in London that was once the home of poet John Keats. Visitors can see original works and artifacts, as well as the restored interior and garden. Keats lived in the house from 1818 to 1820, and it was later restored to a single house. The museum contains memorabilia of Keats and others who lived in the house, such as Fanny Brawne’s engagement ring.

Keats House is a museum and former home of a 19th century poet named John Keats. It is located in the Hampstead neighborhood of London, England and is open to visitors for a modest fee. Although Keats only lived in the house for a short time, it was where he wrote many of his popular poems, such as “Ode to a Nightingale” and “La Belle Dame sans Merci.” As a museum, Keats House is a place where many of his original works and artifacts have been preserved. It also offers visitors the opportunity to see the styles common during Keats’ time living in the house, as it has been restored to showcase the original design of both the house and garden.

Originally built in 1815, Keats House was actually divided into two separate lodgings owned by two people, Charles Dilke and Charles Brown. Keats was invited to live with Charles Brown after Keats’ brother died of tuberculosis in 1818. Keats only lived in the house until 1820, when he left for Rome in the hope of a cure for his own tuberculosis. He died in 1821 at the age of 25.

At present, Keats House is no longer divided into two housing structures, but is a single house. This design change occurred in the mid 1800’s when a new owner purchased both halves of the house. As a result, when visitors to Keats House visit the museum, it is not quite as it was when Keats lived there.

The Keats House has much of the original interior design. Through a delicate restoration, many of the rooms have been restored to their original colours. For example, Keats’ bedroom was discovered to be pink in color and was returned to the same color by skilled designers. Many of the other rooms are also similar to how they were when Keats lived there, such as the drawing room where he worked on his poetry. The garden at Keats House has also been restored to mimic the look it may have had when Keats lived in the house, complete with the original mulberry tree.

In addition to interior and landscaping designs, Keats House also contains large quantities of memorabilia of Keats and others who lived in the house. Many people are interested in seeing the engagement ring Keats gave to his neighbor, a girl named Fanny Brawne, for example. Visitors can also view a selection of original works, letters, prints, paintings and books belonging to Keats. Other interesting artifacts on display include a Charles Brown tea caddy, a locket containing Keats’ hair, and a ribbon belonging to Fanny Brawne.
