Then both the flour mixture and the pear mixture are combined to form the batter.

Instead, these cakes are made as they would be without the pears, and then the pears and chocolate are placed on top of the batter after it’s in the pan. The plain glazes that often complement these desserts are usually made with a combination of brown sugar, milk, and butter. Other flavors, such as vanilla, may be added. Making a glaze mainly involves mixing and thoroughly heating or blending the ingredients.
